Five hundred people attended the sell out pro.manchester Annual Dinner at the Hilton Hotel on Wednesday John Culshaw was the guest speaker and entertained members and guests for over forty minutes. His range of impressions from Alan Sugar to Malcolm Macintyre was exceptional.
It was great fun to be the MC for the evening, JC even did an impersonation of me, which everyone in the room thought was highly amusing. Chris Barry and Michael Taylor seemed to think this was one of his best impressions and twittered to that effect. "Highlight was John Culshaw doing more than a passable impersonation of John Ashcroft" said Chris Barry, "his jkaonline was the
best said Michael Taylor". Didn't quite see it myself but did laugh!
The glitzy black tie event was sponsored by the Hilton Hotel Manchester. It was an opportunity for members and guests to gather for an evening of relaxation, entertainment and celebration, as pro.manchester enters it’s 25th year in operation.
It was also a chance for outgoing Chairman Chris Baguley to address pro.manchester members for almost the last time and reflect on his year in office. This has been a year in which pro.manchester has increased membership and the business development programme, hosting key events including the Business Conference in March. He said ‘It has been a transformational year’ for pro.manchester in which I have been truly honoured to have served as Chairman’.
Chris has been a great Chairman to work with over the last year and we look forward to Paul Lupton's year in office following the AGM in June. Paul offered grace and the loyal toast, it's the last time, for at least twelve months, we will see the new Chairman with a microphone in his hand speaking for less than a minute.
pro.manchester is a great organisation, with a great executive team and as Chief Executive I have a great job. My thanks to the team for making the Annual Dinner so special, especially to our excellent conference and events manager Nicola McCormick. People often say to me "Don't make it so obvious you enjoy the job so much" but on nights like the Annual Dinner it is very very difficult.
